The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was made official at the start of December, but we're still learning new details about it. The latest tidbit to emerge is that the phone will support Samsung's Second Screen feature, so you can use it as an extra PC monitor.

This comes via Android Authority, and would seem to be a great way of making use of that huge 10-inch main screen. For comparison, the entry level iPad launched in 2025 has an 11-inch display (which doesn't fold at two points, obviously).

We've seen the Second Screen feature before on Samsung's Android tablets, enabling you to extend the desktop of a Windows PC on to the mobile device – basically treating it like an external monitor, with a variety of configuration options available.

Even better, it all works wirelessly, via the Miracast standard: you don't even need to cable anything up. As per Android Authority, you can find the Second Screen functionality on the Galaxy Z TriFold by heading to Connected devices from Settings in One UI.

Stretching out

This adds to all the other functionality that the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold brings with it. It's the first Samsung handset to offer standalone DeX, which means you can switch to a desktop-like interface on the actual handset itself, no second screen or device needed.

You can also use a feature called Extended Mode on the Galaxy Z TriFold to project the phone's display to an external monitor – a bit like Second Screen in reverse. There's certainly plenty here to keep you as productive as possible.

The Apple engineers currently at work on the foldable iPhone would do well to take note: if it inherits some of the second screen capabilities shown here, and available on the current iPads, then it's going to be a far more useful device.

The Galaxy Z TriFold goes on sale in South Korea tomorrow, and will be available in the US during the first quarter of 2026 – though we don't know for how much. As yet, there's no word on whether or not the phone will be sold in the UK or Australia.
