It is this time of year that I add a new smart speaker to my home collection. This year it was the turn of my son, who wants to be able to play music in his room. I took advantage of a Black Friday offer, but part of me is wishing I had held out a little bit longer.

That's because you can now get the Amazon Echo Spot at Amazon for $44.99 (was $79.99). That's a $35 discount and $5 cheaper than it was during Black Friday.

The Echo Spot is one of the best Alexa speakers, with particular praise for its audio quality and compact design. There's also a wide range of customization options to make it feel unique to you.

There's plenty of time to get this delivered for Christmas, but the deal is selling fast, so we can't guarantee it'll be around for long. If you're tempted, we'd suggest snapping it up now.

The Amazon Echo Spot might be small, but it's capable of producing some impressive sound from its compact speaker. As well as listening to your favorite music, it can also be used as an alarm to wake you up in the morning, or you can take advantage of its smart features and ask it the latest news. Get all of this, and more, for a new record-low price of under $45.

It's also worth noting that, even though it's a capable speaker, it's definitely more of a smart alarm. It's fine for playing music, but if you're expecting the same level of audio quality that you'd find from the best smart speakers, then you'll be disappointed.

The Echo Spot's display provides all the information you need, too, including the time, the latest weather, and it even has a music visualizer. There are also customizable widgets that connect with your smart home hardware to display important and relevant information.
