By Evan MasseyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberJoe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals have had another rough all-around season in 2025 after the superstar quarterback went down in Week 2 with an injury that kept him out for most of the year.
Once again, Burrow's career was set back due to injury. That has become a common trend for him and the Bengals. However, the team has failed to focus on building better around him to protect the superstar quarterback.
Now, Burrow has spoken out with a concerning admission about his NFL future. He hinted at potentially retiring early and that he isn't having as much fun playing the game he loves. Burrow dropped the comments when asked about his feelings following his most recent injury.

"It certainly doesn’t change my desire to win. If I wanna keep doing this, I have to have fun doing it," Burrow said. "I’ve been through a lot and if it’s not fun, what am I doing it for? So, that’s the mindset I’m trying to bring to the table."
...Those comments have led some to suggest that Burrow should try to find his way out of Cincinnati. Should that scenario become a reality, a lot of speculation has started rising about where the 28-year-old quarterback could land.
Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has revealed three teams he thinks should try to acquire Burrow. Among those three teams was a shocking choice. Enter the Pittsburgh Steelers, who could be looking for a new quarterback this offseason if Aaron Rodgers chooses to retire or sign elsewhere.
“If I were those three organizations [Jets, Raiders, Steelers], I'm in a brainstorm meeting now, we are figuring out a way to propose a way to get Joe Burrow," Orlovsky said. "And I don't necessarily care what it takes.”
Honestly, there is a zero percent chance that the Bengals would be willing to trade Burrow within the AFC North. That shouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

Throughout his career to this point in time, Burrow has played in 73 total games. He has thrown for 19,735 yards, 148 touchdowns, and 48 interceptions, while completing 68.2 percent of his passes and running for 817 yards and 12 more scores.
Landing with the Steelers would be a very intriguing destination for Burrow. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh fans, this idea simply isn't going to happen, at least directly via a trade with Cincinnati.
