This offseason, Daniel Jones signed a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts hoping to rejuvenate his career — and that’s exactly what he did.

He beat out Anthony Richardson for the starting job and had been one of the NFL’s most efficient quarterbacks heading into Week 14 last Sunday.

However, playing through a fractured fibula may have contributed to the Achilles injury he suffered in the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars — an injury later confirmed as a rupture, officially ending his 2025–26 season.

Jones had led the Colts to eight wins entering Week 15, keeping them firmly in the playoff hunt. Indianapolis responded to the loss of their starter by signing 44-year-old veteran Philip Rivers, who could now be tasked with leading the offense for the remainder of the season.

On Thursday, Jones broke his silence on social media with a clear, heartfelt message thanking Colts fans, teammates, and coaches in what could end up being his only season with the franchise as he rehabs a major injury heading into the offseason.

“Thank you to my teammates, the coaches, the #Colts organization, and all the fans for the overwhelming support,” Jones wrote. “Tough way to end the season, but it has been an honor to wear the horseshoe and play for Colts fans. I’ll miss lining up with my guys, but I'll be riding with them every step of the way. Go Colts!"

Jones is playing this season on a $14 million deal and was positioned for a massive long-term extension — something that still could happen. But his injury is likely to make the Colts, or any other interested team, more cautious, especially with the uncertainty around whether he’ll be ready for training camp, the preseason, or even Week 1 next season.

Still, Jones has shown he can start in this league. In the action he’s seen this year, he’s thrown for 3,101 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 68.0% of his passes.
